Sustainable Design

RNM Design offers design services that address the principles of sustainability: environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability, in a manner that has application to daily life. We offer all levels of Leed Certification through Green Building techniques that address sustainable site selection, maximizing water efficiency, saving energy, making smart use of materials and resources, and safeguarding indoor environmental quality.

RNM also strives to incorporate sustainability techniques in its master planning through techniques such as:

  • Clustering development
  • Mixing land uses
  • Reducing street widths and impervious surface area
  • Incorporating multi-modal transportation systems
  • Designing for energy efficiency
  • Minimizing water use and recycling water
  • Utilizing stormwater management techniques to decrease runoff, remediate pollutants, increase groundwater recharge, and prevent erosion

The Canyons The Canyons, won the Pacific Coast Builders’ Merit Award as “Best in the West for Sustainability” in response to its clustered design and utilization of storm water runoff to enhance wildlife habitat.
