RNM Design is creating a unique single-family residence based upon Sustainability principals for clients in Irvine, CA. This 2,700 square foot home, known as the Whitehair Residence, has 3 bedrooms, a double-volume great room with windows that overlook the adjacent courtyard, 3.5 baths, and a two-car garage. The home will incorporate the following Sustainable Design principals in its design and construction:

• Strategic house placement to maximize solar energy use
• Native plants and xeriscaping
• Low-flow irrigation system
• Solar-powered landscape lighting
• Permeable paving
• Passive solar design and shading devices
• Cool metal roof
• Natural lighting, wherever possible
• Energy efficient lighting with lighting controls
• Radiant-floor heating system
• Natural ventilation and whole house fan for cooling
• Formaldehyde-free insulation
• Engineered and FSC certified lumber
• Recycled content in carpet and exterior materials
• Bamboo flooring
• Low-flow and water efficient fixtures
• Energy efficient appliances
• Low VOC and formaldehyde-free materials
• Construction waste management
• Recycling of demolition waste
• Reuse of existing land after demolition
